The time I have spent taking pictures at King Ranch has allowed me to connect with my own heritage and place in the world in an entirely new way.

I'm amazed at the 160+ year history of Mexican Vaquero culture blended with American Ranching, and how out of that an entirely new culture was born. It is a beautiful, living and breathing example of immigration and the American Dream. I'm inspired by so many Kineños, my ancestors, and particularly the work of Toni Frissel who brought her own unique perspective as a New York fashion photographer to the King Ranch in the late 30's and 40's. This is certainly the work that has helped shape my style the most, and feels the most authentic to me.
